country accompannied by a family friend? My son is 10 and is going alone with our friend. Both already have their passports and in/out plane tickets ready. Do I need anything else?
Bad typo, my son is 15. And I mean, is there anything else they need to pass the inmigration officers at the airports?

I'm pretty sure your friend will need some sort of proof that your child is allowed to be travelling with him/her, especially if they're leaving the country.

Hi I work for American Airlines. No they would not need any kind of paper work, but I do tell every body in the issue to get a noterzied doc saying it is ok for them to make med choose for the kid when you are not there so the can get them med trement out of the US of A. Hope this helps.

You need a letter stating that you give permission to the adults your child will be with to provide medical treatment if needed. It needs to state the dates of travel and where the travel will take place. It needs to be signed by both parents. You can research online for samples

When I was younger I flew to Las Vegas with my brother (both minors) and we needed a notarized letter stating that we had permission to leave the country, passports, and birth certificates.
I would definitely recommend getting a notarized letter, so border patrol knows your family friend is not kidnapping your children. Better to be prepared than not!

-Good Luck!

check with the airline; even though I am the custodial parent when I went on a cruise my son's father had to provide a certified letter giving his "permission" to take him out of the country. Definetely find out with plenty of time to get things taken care of!

I would give you friend "power of attorney" for your child during the trip. This will stop any confusion and allow your friend to seek medical attention for you child if needed! Make sure it is a "Special Power of Attorney" and specify just what your friend can and can't do and establish a time frame for it to begin and end!
