I'm in a sticky situation.
I have this mare, she's been through a rough life, she was born and bred on a cattle station north of me, stayed their for 15 or so years. She was then was bought by my old riding trainer, and used for lessons for a few months, till I bought her.
I am doing no work with her atm due to wet weather.
I live in cairns australia, we have had a lot of flooding and is way to wet to ride or lunge atm.
She has arthritis in her front fetlocks, I don't push her as much as I use to, but I still feel mean when I ride her. I do sporting (barrels, pony club, bending, gymkhanas ETC) with her.
I am getting to big for her too, but I don't know what to do with her.
If I was to get another horse, I would have to sell her, or retire her somewhere. I keep her near my school, and wouldn't be able to retire her and keep another horse at the same place.
I took her to mt garnet, helped out some mates mustering (near ravenshoe for you locals) and she loved it. I think if I could I would retire her up there, since I would be going up there a few times a year.
Though if I was to sell her, I don't think I could.
She is not a beginner horse, she has to much go for that, probably a intermediate or advanced, but she isn't fast enough and cannot be pushed to much, so competitive riders couldn't use her. She has some bad habits, and would need a lot of care and attention. Though, she is a very loving horse, and I don't want to part with her, but I don't want to be mean to her either.
If I was to sell her, what would I price her as?
She is a 14.1hh ASH x mare. 15 or 16yrs old, bright bay.
Pretty much bomb proof, done pc, mustering.
Fine with loud noises, gallops next to a truck or 4 wheeler.
Bites sometimes, arthritic though has a good stop.
Can be used with any discipline.
Any more info needed, just ask.
