Do Japanese games work on an English DS?

My son Love's utterly Love's Inazuma eleven and has commpleted the first game on his english DS.
Here is the more question part:
He has watched the second season on youtube for americans and wants to get the Japanese game I am going to get it for his birthday but i wanted to know since it is October 2009 will it work on his english DS please tell em and thanks.
 
only way to know is find out if the game is region locked
means that it will only run on systems of that region jap or usa
ask the game store or place were you would buy it first
and if buying online make sure to contact that person and ask them if it will work or not
 
No. Japanese games will only work on Japanese systems. Games are region locked to prevent people from getting cheaper copies in other countries. I assume you mean American DS, but even if you mean England, it will not work. Sorry.
The only way to play the game on an English DS is if the game is localized, meaning recoded for that DS and translated.
