Do most actors/actresses in hollywood take classes first?

Well if you notice the difference between American actors/actresses and English Actors/actresses. American actors jump right into it that's why almost all of our films suck. The American actors have never been properly trained and are just in for the money. English actors on the other hand Take their time, learn, go to school and do it for the sake of art that's why their acting is fantastic. Take Keira Knightly for example and compare her to maggie gyllenhall there is a big difference.
