...argue with the Bible? So far nothing in the Bible has been disproved. The Bible makes no claim as to age of the Earth. Listed generations of men were added up to arrive at about 6,000 years for the age of mankind. No man has decidedly determined the Earth's age of origin, and can't. Bible fact is man arrived on Day 6 after Earth was started up in Genesis 1:3, already a dark water-world before "creation week". We don't know why Earth was in that state, for how long, or how or whether life was on Earth before then, or why the surface was covered with water, not associated with a star for light and heat. That can't be known through science. The fossil record has a stark beginning of life, the Archeozoic Eon 3.9 to 2.5 billion years ago based on presumptions of evolution affecting how dating methods are used. No scientist is allowed to publicize a new look at accepted dating methods, resulting in threatening of the theory, except among those not afraid to consider a much younger Earth age, including Creationists.

Modern science academies teach certain geologic principles that are not proved as a basis from which geologists begin interpreting the rocks. Most of the beliefs are suppositions at best, assuming Evolution as the starting principle of life origin. A geology student is taught the granite layer of the crust is "subducting", the edge of continents being forced into the mantle. Trouble is granite is lighter than basalt under it, all lighter than the magma below. Common sense should argue that subduction isn't true, like ice won't sink to the bottom of a glass filled with pure water. Less dense matter doesn't sink into more dense matter. If you push tree logs floating on water they will pile up in shallow or no water. IOW, instead of subducting, continents push up mountains and tend to spread out. Ideas like those commonly held as truth have distorted origins greatly, imposing unsupported long Earth age in the billions of years.

So far, everything has been disproved in the bible.
Noa Ark, the Flood ?
Humanity coming from adam and eve ( and unknown people who had sex with their children, unless Eve was around ? )
Various rants about sodomy ?
Ignoring real world geography ?
Magical claims with no backing ?
Jesus story ? Written 20 to 70 years after he lived ?
Jewish stories ?

We learnt more from other countries documentation than from the bible.
Our understanding of "biblical times" progressed only after historians stopped trying to reconcile bible and real history.

The bible is a collection of stories, inspired from eral events and "magicked" a bit to inspire people to adore god and let its priests prospere. Also used to unite jewish people ( especially after Babylon exile ).

The stories on hebrews in Egypt ? It keeps ignoring archeological finding showing the hebrews had split between sedantary tribes living in the mountains, and nomadic tribes working sometimes in israel, sometimes in Egypt ( called "hapirou" - they got the idea of monotheistic deity from Akhenathon or pre-existing ehyptian cult and brought it back to Israel ).

The biblical stories about god destroying men, animals, the earth, .. : where are the proofs ?
Ask any scientist about noa and the flood, they will laugh and be sorry for you.

Let`s not be shy about calling things by their names...the bible is a collection of stories.
We have much better now - Go and look in the Fantasy/SF section of your local bookstore.

So far absolutely no supernatural claims in the bible have been proven....ever. Not one single event.
You've had over 2000 years to do so.

Science has continually disproved claims made in the bible as our knowledge of the universe grows.

Of course, if you think the bible is enough of God's word, you're right;
it's enough to send you to hell.
Not that it's a bad book if you abide by its precepts.
I mean, if you love your enemies you won't be ashamed
when all things are revealed. But it takes a bit of work
to obtain all-knowledge and one book full of randomly
organized epistles isn't going to cut it...

Lots of stuff in the bible has been disproved.
A lot of the bible is not even consistent with itself.
Try reading it again and pay some attention this time.

I don't accept anything based only on faith.
The age of the earth had nothing to do with the concept of evolution.
figuring out how old the rocks are was done in other ways and the age of the rock was used to figure out how old the fossils were.

YOU ARE THE MOST RETARDED PERSON EVER. JUst say the word god and you send money right. You are very dumb and to retarded to think for yourself. Just follow and agree with everything any one tells you you moron.

Unfounded? Neither of the two items mentioned in your questions even come close to being "unfounded." Evolution being a scientific fact, for one. And your age of the Earth objection is kind of silly. Sure, God could've just created an empty, dark planet and let it sit there for a few billion years. Sure, the people calculating a 6-10 thousand year old Earth could have missed quite a lot. But regardless, there are quite a few stupid people out there that believe in something as ridiculous as a 6 thousand year old Earth. Where we were walking around with dinosaurs and all that cool stuff.

Evolution is not assumed as the "starting principle of life origin." The "origin of life" is relegated to the abiogenesis section. Evolution ONLY deals with life. So life must have already existed for evolution to even come into play.

I don't have a great deal of knowledge in geology, so I won't comment too much on your "subduction goes agaisnt common sense" idea . . . but from my limited understanding your objection sounds ridiculous. Or you don't actually know what you're talking about. In either case, I suggest the science section.

And there are plenty of things in the Bible that have been shown to be wrong.

HAHAHAHA

Those geologists were able to figure out that the Moon was recessing slowly away from the Earth looking at rocks that you are claiming they have no idea how old they are. That's just funny.

"So far nothing in the Bible has been disproved."

Bats are not birds.
pi is not 3
snakes do not eat dust
Rabbits do not chew cud
Donkeys do not talk
People are not made of clay
Humanity cannot populate from one breeding pair.
People do not live to be 900 years old
People do not rise from the dead
People do not turn to salt
Two of every animal on earth cannot fit in a boat even if it is the size of a football field.
Shall I continue?

"So far nothing in the Bible has been disproved."

-LOL, that comment made my boring day...

What is unfounded is the bible. What is ridiculous is questioning science with nothing to support your belief in the bible. If you hold the bible to the same test for credibility that you use for science religion/bible will lose. And you know it.

The ONLY thing that makes a person an Atheist is a lack of belief in a god or gods. NOTHING else.

Evolution, abortion, and all the other controversial topics are all up for grabs. Again, the only thing we all agree on is that there is NO GOD. Nothing else.

Disproved = proving a negative.

Proving a negative is impossible, I understand theists have to fall back on logical fallacies eventually to argue when put against science but come on, this one is getting old

There are magical pixies that live in my shoes, you can't prove there arent!

Congratulations.

Yet another person who thinks they are so incredibly brilliant that, upon a cursory glance, they can overturn an entire scientific community's decades upon decades of studious research and investigation because they are so much smarter than the collective scientific minds of humanity that they have thought of things not a single expert has ever thought of before.

God, it must be cool to be that freaking smart.

Actually, we can. You just refuse to listen to the people who know more about the world than you do (aka the scientists of the world).
