I've trained in Kenpo Karate. I used to like it. It has many techniques. But, can they really be used in a fight. Usually the adrenaline goes up and the person is not able to use complex moves. Also there is a size issue. A larger man is always going to have more ability to pummel or grab a smaller opponent. I don't care what you say. I've seen too many street fights and ring fights where a larger guy wins. This is why police officers are large most of the time. No matter how aggressive a smaller criminal is one on one no weapons he will always end up in a submission hold by the police officer. The exception would be when the police officer is much smaller than the criminal. Most non-wrestling martial arts only work in situation where the people are the same size or when the martial artist is larger than the attacker. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shnydXRDTrI

I'll admit boxing, mixed martial arts, Krav have some validity
But, do you think a small martial artist has any chance when he is outweighed 100 lbs and he is also smaller by three feet in a prison cell? No, he doesn't. He'll lose. Karate, Kenpo, Kung Fu probably won't do sh!t for him. Wrestling or Jui Jitsu might help him on the ground, but most martial arts won't help him no matter how much skill he has.

Even If he is 200lbs heavier than you he has no chance against a trained judoka.

Dear Troll,

I submit:

Much much thanks to Fat Cobra for introducing me to the amazing powerhouse that is Chen Bing.

Well, I'll admit. Most martial arts like Karate are only good for the sport. Being more about technique than to kick your opponent's ass or to defend yourself in a real fight. Mixed Martial Arts is different, though. You learn grappling, boxing, kickboxing, breaks, chokes, and submissions. You learn how to get out of situations like head locks, rear naked chokes, ground and pounds, etc. You learn what to do and what not to do..like turning your back to your opponent. You're gonna be calm if you're on your back and he's gonna freak out and throw his arms around and try to push you off and you can do a number of techniques that would break bones or severe joints.

If I could slap you numerous times based on how stupid this question is, then you'd have to get dental surgery my friend.

Either you had a poor teacher/ it was a mcdojo or you didn't train hard enough.
In terms of my training, after I'd reached a high level of training I was and am not in the least bit intimidated by size. I am confident that I could drop most people I meet. You have to change how you would fight but it's not a disadvantage. The only disadvantages are when you don't use your own advantages, there are good and bad things to being small or large.
In your videos:
1st video) Cop was obviously not trained and didn't stand his ground, he should have pulled his weapon in that situation. Also, his opponent was trained.
2nd video) Officer kept his head low, unwise and led to his opponent getting the upper hand. He apparently wasn't very well trained either.
3rd video) Too poor quality for me to tell you anything about them.
4th video) Not bad.

The art has *nothing* to do with it if the individual doesn't train. I will ALWAYS destroy a guy in ANY martial art if that guy doesn't train hard. Every single time I will win I promise you no matter how big or how in shape he is. The individual has to train, the art is just a tool to train and a way to go about learning.
Karate won't do sh*t you say? I know a guy who defended himself against FIVE men bigger than himself, knocked out 4 and pinned the last. That's highly unlikely in any art but it apparently did do sh*t for him since he trained hard yeah?

You apparently had no motivation or discipline, now you're trying to talk down we who ARE trained and can do what you didn't have motivation to do.

Where the hell are you getting this assumption that police officers are trained martial artists? They obviously take a short crash course in a few martial arts, but they definitely aren't. The pro boxer had a huge SKILL advantage, and SIZE advantage. I agree with you somewhat that if you have two people of equal skill, the larger one would obviously win, but size in grappling isn't largely important. Size and reach is important in striking though, because if their larger you can't hit their face as well, they can keep you away with their reach, and they can rain blows down on your head using the force of gravity.
