Do reviews/travel blogs influence where you travel?

For my potential dissertation project, I’m very interested in finding out whether travel reviews/blogs (social media) influence where a person chooses to stay, visit or do on a vacation? For example, if a destination received a bad review or a hotel gained bad reviews from the public, would you still stay their or would it put you off?
