If there is a famous software called "abc"(cost 50$) made by "xyz" company

after a few months software "abc" distribut(Free) in torrent sites..

So my question is that,Do these sites give some profit to the "xyz" company??

Bcoz "abc" is the product of "xyz" company

Plz explain!
Thanks

No.

Clarifying explanation: Torrent files are a computer file that contains a load of data relating to a file. It contains a list of trackers which are servers that connect people who have downloaded the file (in this case your abc software) already and people who want to download it. So you download the torrent file from your torrent site of choice, your software opens the torrent and checks it for the address of the trackers, then it connects to the tracker which gives it several users who have the file and are uploading it. So your software then connects to them and these become your peers that you download the software from.

So when you download software abc, you aren't downloading it from the (edit:)torrent site, you're downloading it from a user who has already downloaded it, these are called your seeds or peers in the software. When you use torrent software, unless you specifically turn it off, you also upload the files or the parts of the file you have already downloaded to other users who want them, these are called your leechers in the software.

If you are getting this software for free, you're stealing it. Because company xyz has made it and they've said "You can have abc, but only if you pay us $50". This means the user you're downloading from is being even more naughty, because they are distributing stolen property. But as I said you also upload when you use peer to peer software, unless you turn it off, which means you're just as naughty.

But the makers of the peer to peer software, and the sites that list the torrents, say it isn't their fault what the users share, so they don't compensate xyz for lost earnings, or pay them a share of their profits.

sorry for the long explanation, is that clear? Anything else?

Edit: Obviously there are thousands of files which you can legally download and share using torrents and p2p software, but the creator must have said it's ok to do this. Examples are Firefox, Ubuntu, Thunderbird, Open Office, GIMP, Audacity, VLC media player and so on.

i doubt they do...considering sharing online is illegal, the fact that we do it everyday is because police have better things 2 do and more serious criminals to catch then to catch the cyber software distributing people
