do they sell a High def or H D DVD recorder were you can record shows im not talking about DVR's im talking recording

HD-DVD is a dead format, all things considered.

Blu-Ray is the winning optical HD media disc format.

Currently there are no Blu-Ray recorders outside of Japan.

In the US, they might be a while coming, if at all. You see, around 15% of TV viewers use OTA, and not a whole lot more use it with a pay service. Most people subscribe to a pay TV service, which such recorders will likely not be compatible with, or the providers will do what they can to limit their use.
