Do dreams occur when we are in a deep sleep or when we are closer to being awake?

Also, is there any explanation or theorization of why some people don't dream? Or don't reneged their dreams.

Light, your mind is still somewhat active. When your in a deep sleep, nothing happens.

We dont actually dream in "Deep sleep" which is when our brainwaves slow down and are in delta or theta state. It it when we are in REM state that we dream, and our brainwaves speed up. So you would say it is towards the end of the sleep cycle, before coming back to light sleep.
