...social ills? If one purges the Judaism of the Prophets and Christianity as Jesus taught it of all subsequent additions, especially those of the priests, one is left with a teaching which is capable of curing all the social ills of humanity.
— From Einstein's book The World as I See It (Philosophical Library, New York, 1949) pp. 111-112

No.

If that were true, we wouldn't have had the Kitos War, Crusades, Inquisition, or the ethnic cleansing of most Palestinians.

But he knew it could never happen and was himself a confirmed atheists that loved to poke gentle fun at the christians!!!

"I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." – Einstein

The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this. – Einstein

I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms. – Einstein

Yes, I'd agree with that.

However, let's take his advice and whittle away those prophets and look just at what Jesus taught, instead of what Paul wrote.

Rabbi Hillel said of the scriptures of Judaism, "What is hateful to you, don't do other others, that's the whole of the law, the rest is commentary on that."

A little later, Jesus said, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you, for that is the summation of all the laws and the writings of the prophets."

Of course, this Golden Rule is much older than either Hillel or Jesus, Thales the father of Greek philosophy having said it seven centuries before them. And of course the Hindu version is even older.

So basically, Einstein is saying, following the Golden rule is capable of curing all the social ills. And I truly believe if EVERYONE really practiced this ethic of reciprocity, the social ill would be cured.

so now Einstein is automatically right about everthing?

No. Just because he was a scientific genius, that doesn't mean he was right about everything he said. There are probably rocket scientists that believe that the world is run by reptilian aliens through the Illuminati.

It has been proven that the old bronze age religions can be a huge detriment to society. Especially in 1600's Salem,Nazi Germany and even modern day Africa.

So, basically, the message is good as long as you remove the religion from it? I'm down with that.
