Do you approve of the way Roger Goodell is acting as NFL commisioner?

Goodell is a racist who does only what his handlers (the owners) tell him to do. He's a joke, but at least he's not a Selig...

After the flurry of mid season excessive fines over a period of 3-4 weeks, the head shots stopped. Apparently excessive fines do work. Players WERE taught to tackle. Head shots are poor examples of tackling. No coach teaches tackling like that.
The rules against using the helmet have been on the books for 50 years. Goodell didn't put them there. He didn't decide to enforce them. The NFL Competition Committee decided that. No alternative is needed to prevent concussions. The spearing rules are on the books. No one who ever got speared would criticize enforcement of the helmet rules.
Goodell has no authority re the work stoppage and very little authority otherwise. Check out "Chapter 8", "Constitution and ByLaws of the NFL". Goodell definitely sides with the owners since the owners are his boss. They tell him what to do, can hire or fire him, not the players.
 
No, he needed to reign in those greedy bleeping owners and stop that lockout BS... but of course he was just a tool of the owners and is only a commissioner in name.

Before he came in Paul Tagliabue had a contract comeing up and he and Upshaw urged both sides to think before doing anything drastic.That both sides were makeing money and they should look at what happend to baseball after their last labor stoppage.
I never saw Goodell acting in anyway to unite the two sides.He may have tried but were not hearing it.Maybe he knows there wouldn't be any support for a compromise.I don't know but it sure seems he could have been working a little harder behind the scenes.When the owners annouced they were takeing the opt out option a couple years ago.He should have been pushing both sides to get together then not a month before the lockout!
So now we sit here and I don't know if either side wanted this but the courts are now involved.
 
I think Goodell wants to do the right things as Commissioner but he has somehow misplaced his efforts. For example, I am all for player protection when it comes to concussions. I think his stance on that issue is understandable. But I disapprove of how he has dealt with that issue. The excessive fines on players is not going to alleviate the situation because players were taught to tackle the way that they do. Fining players does nothing more than cause players to become more enraged and it creates an unstable situation for the game because players then begin to second guess how they tackle, which results in poor play on defense. Players were taught to tackle, and if you take away their ability to do that, the game becomes muddled. Also note, Goodell never came up with an alternative way to limit concussions. Simpy fining players doesn't work. He should have proposed ideas for coaching staffs to communicate with their players and form some sort of work around to keep concussions down. Goodell hasn't properly addressed the issue.

Also, Goodell hasn't addressed the lock out very well. He's been silent on the issue for the most part and hasn't used his authority to at least get both sides to compromise. He seems to be siding with the owners and NFL rather than working with both sides equally. If I were to grade Goodell on his job thus far, I give him a D-. Goodell has the right motives when it comes to certain issues, but he's failed to come up with the right results.
