Do you believe in Fate? Ever had a premonition?

Definition of a premonition:
1. an intuition of a future, usually unwelcome, occurrence; foreboding
2. an early warning of a future event; forewarning

Definition of fate
a. The supposed force, principle, or power that predetermines events.
b. The inevitable events predestined by this force.

You know when you get that gut feeling that something bad is gonna happen? You can't explain it - but it's there. Things that have happened to me in the past have made me a firm believer in premonitions. I’ve tempted fate a couple of times too...

Some of my stories are really long winded so I won’t bother explaining them all. Just this one...

1 week at work, I was talking with my friend about car crashes - and how we would react if we hurt someone while drink driving. I said I didn’t think I’d be that bothered if I did... (I said this only because I have witnessed two small children get hit by a car and I didn’t react badly - it didn’t haunt my dreams or anything - so I thought I had quite a strong stomach for that sort of thing)

1 Week later: After finishing work one night,... just about to catch a ride home with my colleague when we saw a crazy driver go through town. My colleague commented that the driver had obviously been drinking... I said “ Yeah, what an idiot” etc... Just about to get in the car and we bump into another colleague who had the night off and he invited me to go out and party with him. This is where I got a really bad gut feeling. I didn’t know what... I just felt alarm bells ringing and that I shouldn’t go. But I did anyway..... It wouldn’t be a story otherwise would it? ;)

So, we get smashed at his place with a few others and at the end of the night he offers me a ride home. It didn’t occur to me that he was smashed and shouldn’t drive... On the way bac I asked if I could drive... (I don’t know what possessed me)... and he said “yeah” (I don’t know what possessed him either).
No more than 500 metres down the road I crash into the back of a parked car (which wasn’t even on the road by the way).

SO! Was I affected by smashing up my friend’s car and breaking a few bones while drink driving?? Yes I was...... It’s had such an impact on me and I absolutely DETEST drunk drivers now. Suffice it to say I will NEVER drink drive again.

Well played fate,... well played.

So, What’s your story?? 10 points to the best one :)

Very interesting story! I do believe in fate, the whole idea that everything is meant to be. Not the little things necessarily such as drinking coke instead of pepsi, but the bigger things in life, the experiences we don't forget, which shape us for ever.

I've not really had a proper premonition though I've had something similar. I had a plan to stay single until university. I didn't believe in young relationships. One of my teachers randomly left (fate) and instead of finding a new one for us, the school split the class up into all the other classes. In my class I met this guy, I'd sat in his seat and he made me get off it. There was a seating plan and my table had 5 boys. They were all pretty geeky and they all were flirty except the one who told me to find another seat. I had a dream about him but woke up not knowing what it was. I told my friends the next day that some day I want to marry some one like him! I don't know why I said it. I still believed in only dating at 18+ and I was only 15 but months later we were together. It is both of our first relationship and over 5 years on we are together and waiting a few more years so we can marry :)
