Im 14 doing mma soon and wondering since christmas is coming soon if you buy your own gloves/shorts or they are provided(in a local mma center that is)

Every school has their own practice, as far as which equipment the student gets for themselves, which they want the student to buy from the school, and which the school provides.

You would always buy your own mouthguard, protective cup, shorts, handwraps, rashguard, wrestling shoes, and optional ear protection. Some schools may have them available for you to buy from them, or even want you to buy theirs. For instance, for rashies and shorts, they may want you to wear the one with the team logo.

For things like gloves, shinguards, practices will vary. If they're being used all the time, most students are usually expected to have their own. But at some schools, certain pieces of equipment are used less frequently, and when they are, they might be taken off the shelf, and simply wiped down and sprayed afterward.

Gear such as pads (Thai pads, focus pads, kicking shields, etc.) are generally owned and maintained by the gym.
