do you have to pay the publisher if your book sells badly?

like, if you write a book, and take it to a publisher, he finds that it is ok to publish said book. and publishes it, and then not many people buy it. and then it is taken back off of the shelves, will you have to pay the publisher for the money he lost when he published your book?
