Sex in them? I'm righting a book and the characters end up having sex. On a scale of: No details to Every single detail --- what do you think i should include?
Eg. 0 - no detail
10 - every single detail
Sorry i spelt writing as righting.. Ignore that please! haha
Hahaha I'm 17. I've have sex, yes. I am writing for an audience around my age.

There can be no rules, I have read both kind of books. But the question is quality and how important is the event to the story. In any case, most of the world population is familiar with the process, what matters is what it did for the two people and the change in the relationship after that.

How old are the characters? If they are children then they should not have sex.

How old are you? Have you had sex? If not, then I recommend a level of detail of 0 regardless of how old your characters are.

That's a toughy. I guess I'd say 5. I sort of tend to get offended if a writer is at 0, does a cutesy fadeout and acts like I'm not a mature human being who understands the mechanics. Yet, writer's describing at a 10 tend to freak me out. It always leads to me thinking of what kind of person they are to want to detail everything and of the author's experiences haha. It's actually more distracting.

Basically, judge for yourself based on your audience. Are you writing YA fiction? Keep it pretty clean. However, if your writing for adults, don't be afraid to write as if we are all human beings and can handle it haha. Then again..don't gross people out hahaha.

Good luck!
