...if you owe back child support? My friend that I want to take with me owes some back child support can that stop him from getting one? What else can stop someone from getting a passport?

It's pretty irresponsible to be taking a cruise to the Bahamas when you owe child support, wouldn't you say? If I was the child or the mom, I'd be pissed.

yes you need a passport for the bahamas, if they are paying there child support and have made arrangements they may be able to get one, also being a felon could result in not getting a passport, I'd say go to a travel agency and try to get one

If you are American citizens and the cruise begins and ends in the same U.S. port, then you do not need passports. loop cruises do not require passports. See site below and read section on Loop cruises. You can call the cruise line and they will tell you the same thing. If a person owes more than $2,500 in back child support, or is wanted for a serious felony and has had their name put on a hold list by a law enforcement agency, he cannot get a passport. Nothing else can stop a person from getting a passport. Of course, the person owing the child support needs to put the responsibility of caring for his child before his desire to take a cruise.
