Do you NEED a smartphone plan with an iPhone on AT&T?

I always have WiFi and would only have unlimited texting and calling, witch I already have on my current phone. We have an old iPhone lying around, and my current phone just gave out so could I just take this one to AT&T to be put on my current plan? Thanks!

no ... as soon as you put your sim card in ... it will tell att to add data ...

the phones need a data plan or you cant use em

H20 is part of AT&T and you would pay about 40$ a month with an iPhone with them NO CONTRACT
