...can defeat a UFC fighter? After watching many UFC bouts, as impressive as they are,... I get the impression that those guys are more about crude power and endurance rather than technique. Perhaps a person with a pure focus on a traditional martial arts like Kenpo/shotokan Karate, TKD, muay thai, could destroy a UFC fighter. In a real street fight their technique would be superior and their strikes would be more accurate and more likely to inflict brutal damage.

Any one out there trained in the traditional martial arts know what I'm talking about???
Yes I am talking about martial artists who have trained, strengthened, conditioned and disciplined themselves for 10 or more years at least! People like Chuck Norris, Ron Taganashi, Gichin Funakoshi, Chosin Chibana, Bruce Lee, in their prime.
@Callsign'

I know what you're saying and I have the utmost respect for guys like Lidell, Machida, Coture, Ortiz, and of course Gracey. I just think that a traditional martial artist with superior technique, who has of course conditioned themselves well, will be able to land a devastating strike before their UFC opponent can close in on them and take them to the ground.

To take someone down is to put yourself in a very vulnerable position. I think that the UFC fighters aren't proficient enough in striking which is why most of them settle for grappling and which is why most of the fights are on the ground.
@Clowns.

Generally speaking I don't think that the striking tehcniques I see in UFC are anything to be proud of. Their basic boxing is fine, but when it comes to leg technique there is no accuracy, no focus, no variety, no real speed and no real deadly power. If they spend a few years at least, focusing more on leg technique then I have no doubt they will be the superior fighters. But that's the problem with MMA - you dont have years to focus on the one thing... You have to become a jack of all trades (master of none).
@GOP! I agree with you on the MMA... I have no doubt that you should be trained in striking as well as grappling. But my criticism is on the UFC. If they took the time to train and drill their striking I am sure you will see a fatality in the Octagon!!!

But then again that's not very good for the image of the sport, nor is it what the fighter wants. But like I said, the UFC fighter does not have the time to master their striking repertoire... They are athletes and sportsmen who have deadlines to meet.
