Do you think bell curves are wrong? Do people who fail before the curve...

...deserve to get their degree? So, I recently got my vector calculus midterm back, and even though I failed the exam, I got curved up to a B - (class average was 30% before the curve). I truly did not even demonstrate 50% mastery of the concepts and I end up with a B-? Isn't that wrong? Why aren't bell curves banned and considered unethical?
