Alright, so.. there's some people that think rap, and hip-hop should not be categorized under music.
What are your opinions on this? .. Do you agree or disagree?
I got this question asked by my teacher after my speech about hip-hop.
For me, hip hop and rap IS a form of art, but it's not only a form of art, it is also music. It has beats in the background, rhymes, rhythm.. everything that music is consisted with. vocals and sequences of sound put together.. cus if you say that hip-hop shouldn't be categorized in music, that's like saying jazz isn't music just because it only consists rhythmic blues being played.. or just a "dance" style that was created back in the 1920's.
or any other genres like r&b, rock, pop, alternative, country...
they all have the same characteristics, so i don't think there should be no reason why they think hip-hop is "just" a form of art.
I thought it was a really good question, so I might as well ask this here to see your thoughts on this also.
