im not exactly sure but i did gave a friend who had great success with his bichir with some of the smaller fish(until the bichir died)... i think he even gad a pair of swordtails in there also.

a 55 gallon tank with a senegal bichir ( the ones that stay the smallest (14") ).
with:

6 black skirt tetras
1 peaceful communityy firemouth

i heard many people have succes with firemouths in community tanks, but those black skirt tetras only grow to 3", so do u think they would get eaten by a full size 14" bichir, because those tetras swim really fast, and they would be like having silver dollars with a bichir, that many people put them together as silver dollars and tetras swim fast enough to get away from the bichirs mouth. so thats why i got this idea, because they r both very closely realted, and many people have told me to mix silver dollars with bichirs.

if u r gonna say, no tetras will get eaten, please read the whole paragraph, not JUST THE TITLE OF THE QUESTION!!, thats why i wrote the whole paragraph. please.
