does a at&t blackberry curve need to be unlocked to have a at&t prepaid sim?

im just wondering if my black berry needs to be unlocked if i put in a prepaid sim thats at&t. <br>

if its at&t then shudnt i just be able to put the prepaid sim in without having to unlock it?

oh yeah and does the blackberry need to have a sim card in it in the first place to unlock it?
