media than a standard DVD+RW drive? Over the last decade, I've purchased more than a dozen internal DVD(RW) writers and none of them produce consistently good results when burning dual layer (DVD-DL) media. I've got the best software, downloaded and installed the most recent firmware, used every type and brand of blank disks and the results NEVER approach that of the commercial product. I get GREAT results with single-layer (DVD5) media, but nothing I do produces reliable DVD9 (dual layer) discs.

I want to know what results I can expect from a BD-RW drive. Will it produce better DVD9 results than a DVD-RW drive?

If writer is built correctly and don't have some other issues like flawed/buggy firmware, DVD and BD writer should burn DVDs the same.

Hint: If you want to set layer break position, you need not DVD-R but DVD+R media. Maybe that's the reason results were bad? Also you need to burn with something that supports setting layer breaks, like ImgBurn. I think Nero can't do that.
