My boyfriend is going to Mexico on May 26 and staying for a week. He is only going to the border city of San Luis R.C. but he wants to know if it is necessary for him to get a passport to return back to the US. I know eventually he's going to need it but for this trip, will he be required to have one? Thanks! He's a citizen so he doesn't have/need a green card.

i think his green card is suitable but yah make sure he takes a passport for incase and for emergencies so just take it for in case and your greencard too

yes go to www.travel.state.gov it is called the western hemisphere travel intitative. the passport application center is on the link above. it cost about 95 dollars now for a us passport. or go to www.usa.gov the us govt site and see the info there or call 1 800 fed info. the us fed operator who can give you the no to the passport center for app info.

Yes. Since your boyfriend is going to Mexico, it would be best if he takes his U.S. pass port to be on the safe side.

YES ALL US citizens need passports to get back into their own country. But only because Bush is paranoid about terrorists.
