I have severe Tourette Syndrome. I'm also one of the unlucky few who actually have the symptom of involuntary swearing, known as coprolalia.

For me, it's a disabling, painful disorder that can make even walking, eating, hard to do.

To me, the swearing is NOT funny. Not when I go in walmart and am afraid of getting jumped because I can't control the fact that I yell the n-word.

People have even died from injuries due to the movements their tics cause. A man died from a brain injury caused by a head-banging tic. I have bruises up and down my legs from kicking myself, and I've met a man who is paralyzed on one side of his body because of his tics.

Somehow, I don't find any of that funny at all. I don't find having an incurable, disabing brain disorder funny. Especially when I consider my future, as a teenager, I think about the future, like, say, wanting to get a job? Who's gonna hire somebody who swears uncontrollably? I mean, it's just so ignorant.

People who think this is a joke of some sort, gosh, I just wish they could understand.

What do you think?

Those jokes really piss me off. My little brother has Tourettes, and while he doesn't curse, he does flip his head, flick his hands, clear his throat, says 'Saturday', and many other tics. Whenever people say those jokes, I go off on them. One really annoying kid kept doing those 'jokes,' and I got tired of it. I went off on him, and shouted "You F*CKING JERK! HOW DARE YOU F*CKING MAKE FUN OF THOSE PEOPLE!?! I F*CKING HATE YOU! GO TO H*LL!!! And NO, I am NOT going to blame my language on Tourettes! My little brother has it, and has to have an IEP! Why don't YOU try living with Tourettes EVERY SINGLE DAY? Let me tell ya, it ain't no walk in the park!"

Really, those 'jokes' clearly piss me off. People don't know what it's like to see their little brother come home every day after school upset because kids are teasing him. People don't know what it's like to have to see their little brother bullied. Whenever I pass his bus stop, and I see people picking on him, I go off. Seriously, I almost got district security called on me once. Kids know better than to pick on my little brother for the things he can't control!

My friend has tourettes and he has these really loud random like hiccup kind of sounds. Other times its facial twitches.

I feel really bad because everyone makes fun of him. It's not anything you can control.

But honestly, in todays society, not even half are gonna understand. It's something we gotta live with.

Good luck, and I hope they find a cure as it is affecting many peoples' life.

I have tourettes and I can tell you movies sometimes go overboard with bad jokes about tourettes but in the 40 some odd years I have been alive I have found tourettes is not a bad thing all together. I have even learned to make fun at my own expense to teach people about the symptoms. Maybe if you thought of using the humor to explain the syndrome you ma find people to be more receptive to learning about it and understanding there is a time and a place for it.

And if you are to young don't read this.......

Tourettes makes sex fun sometimes my twitches make me a love machine lmao.
