Does anyone find it extremely hypocritcal for atheists to mock...

you're operating under the frankly rather arrogant assumption that Atheism is only critical of Christianity.

in fact, if you check your definitions, Atheism is the lack of belief in ANY deity - and so, potentially the ability/reason to be critical of any religion worhsipping a higher power(s). Simply by declaring themselves atheists, a person is indirectly critisizing faith in religion in general.

the extent to which criticism occurs depends on the actions of the opposite side, however. on this site, it is prodominently Christians vs/ Atheists. there are more Christians, many of whom actively critisise atheists, and so the atheists will attack Christianity in response. if a Jew came on here and started preaching to Atheists to turn to the light and follow the Jewish beliefs, he/she would be criticised/attacked with just as much vigour as the Christians.

so, basically, stop acting under the illusion that you're the victim, and the sole victim at that. You give gets returned to you in equal measure - it's not about Christianity, it's about faith in general.

oh, and since both Christians and Jews follow the Old Testament to some extent, and believe in the same God, and mostly the same people (though their importance varies between the two religions) most of the accusations levelled at Christianity could easily be levelled at Judaism with little to no alteration.

So the fact that I mock literal interpretations of Genesis doesn't count?

Well damn. I guess it really is true that the Jews know it's allegorical.

Presumably you're one of those Christians (thankfully not the majority where I live) who hasn't realised that critticism of the Old Testament is relevant to Judaism as well as your own faith. Unfortunately for you, Jewish people in the Western world are (on the whole) in touch with reality and also much less likely to throw a strop over someone else's opinion than people like you are.

It is terrible to mock anyone's belief and that includes the beliefs of atheists.
