my son has had chronic diarrhea for about 10 days now. he dosen't seem to have any fever. he looks pale to me. he has already had about 8 trips to bathroom this morning since he woke up about 8:00 a.m. i called his doctor and he said if he dosen't have any fever or act sleepy he should be fine and made him an appointment for his office on monday morning. he said he would get a stool sample and test it. my son dosen't act like he feels to good and i've already collected a stool sample. i'm tempted to take him to Childrens ER here in B'ham AL. please give me some advise as to what you would do if it were your child and do you think i am overreacting

Follow your instinct and take your son to ER. He is most likely dehydrated. All the best!

Sounds like he is dehydrated.ER in my opinion. They can hydrate him there and diagnose the problem.I would bet that the doctor, tomorrow will admit him anyway.10 days is far too long.

All of the above, and try to get him to drink Pedialyte to increase his electrolyte levels and minimize the risks of dehydration. That amount of diarrhea is not normal. However, that said, there was a bug going around Massachusetts last month with diarrhea and vomiting. My youngest had diarrhea for about 2 weeks. Only 1 night of vomiting, but 5 times in that one night. He got through it, but I kept in touch with the pediatrician and loaded him with Pedialyte.

I would suggest follow the instructions what his pediatrician suggest. Yeah that would be a great idea taking him to the ER because he might be dehydrating.

10 days of chronic diarrhea for anyone is not good, especially for a 4 year old, he is obviously very dehydrated, so try to get him to drink lots of liquids, someone on here suggested pedialyte, which is a very good suggestion. Its Monday tomorrow, so take your son to his doctors appointment, and stress you want something done, to put this little guy at ease. Good Luck
