Does anyone know anything about the Vermont National Guards rumored deployment?

My boyfriend was put on alert yesterday 5/12. We were not together when he went over the first time so this is all new to me, could someone please tell me what that means to be put on alert and if anyone knows anything about the deployment rumor please fill me in! Thank you
 
Think OPSEC you don't want deployment info all over the net.
 
It means that he may go anytime, and then again maybe not. He needs to have his affairs in order and be ready for it at a moments notice.
