The file I'm trying to convert plays only in VLC player, despite my installation of Perian (v1.1.4) and a vast collection of codecs in Quicktime Pro.
Without the codec, I can't convert the file to be played elsewhere (iPod, Xbox 360, etc…).
Can anyone offer me a (preferably free, non-trial version) fix to this problem?

Apple's site was the first place I went to, I have DivX Pro and it doesn't allow me to convert from DivX 3.11 without giving me a black video output (sound is fine though // iTunes does the same thing).
