Does anyone out there have any helps for teaching a child to ride a bike...

...without training wheels? I was wondering if anyone had any helpful ideas on teaching my 6 year old granddaughter to ride her bike w/o training wheels. She gets on the bike and then acts like she doesn't want to peddle and of course falls. Think grandpa is being a little too hard on her and was hoping for ideas....
 
Start on grass first. My dad taught me how to ride my bike and I learned it in literally two days!!!!! I still fell a lot on the grass of course but I sure hurt a lot less than assfault!!
