Does anyone out there think that the internet is wonderful?

It's 5:30 a.m. in the UK and I have just posed a few questions about my computer on Yahoo answers knowing that somebody in California or Australia will be in touch to give me help. This, I find wonderful.

Does anyone else think the internet is brilliant or horrible.
Is there a negative side to all this?
Are loners becoming more lonely?
Can it become an addiction?

I'm sure there are many who strive to become a "top answerer" for example. The "template" answers I often receive just go to prove that.

Thought out answers welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
It,s here to stay weather we like it or not. Like all other things that come along it,s up to the individual on how they use it and like all good things there is always a bad side to it.
 
Oh god yes. I never answer anything for fun anymore because I'm obsessed with upping my "best answer" percentage, so I'm gaining no points. I need to go on a fantastic answering binge to get up a level. It's so addicting... trying to get to the next level... but the questions thing is amazing, yes.
 
it is very wonderful but also awful as it gives sickos access to lots of sites
 
I think the internet is brilliant and horrible.
It's brilliant because you find all the answers you want. Like on Yahoo! answers. But it's horrible because if you're too into the internet, it will become an addiction. If you are too obsessed with the internet and have no communication with the outside world, your friends will leave you. So don't become too addicted with the internet because it can cause many bad things to happen.
 
Well the internet is good in the sense that people have been communication from far distances with people that they love.
And bad things about it is that people use it for bad such as downloading illegal content and wrong things.
 
the internet is great when u need an answer (i love wikipedia!) and when u are bored (random thingson youtube help me waste my time)...but yeah, i think it can be an addiction. I mean, seriously, how many pple cannot go a day without checkin email or whatever? we have become so heavily reliant on the internet for random things....imagine a world without it- it would be terrible!!
For example, i dont use a dictionary (the big book) anymore- i use dictionary.com....so much easier than flipping pages. and who needs to read novels or books for lit class when u have sparknotes?? hahaha, it just makes us lazy.
And the easily accessible porn sites are terrible for our youths...so are sites that give advice about committing suicide, how to make bombs and all that crap... So, the internet is a good thing, albeit inherently bad.... :o
