Does Comcast HD come with a cable box?

I'm getting Comcast when my Direct TV contract is up. I do not currently have HD service with Direct TV, but I purchased an HDMI cable when I bought my new HD TV. I am wondering if Comcast HD service comes with a cable box and if I will need this HDMI cable that I purchased. If not, I would like to return it and get my money back. But if I need it, I'll just hold on to it.
