People are always doing this...giving God human characteristics...this is wrong, for we as humans cannot really perceive what God is...it is way beyond our comprehension. The view of God is compartmentalised to try and help people to understand what the whole thing is about; for if we spent our lives trying to figure out exactly what God is then we would never get anywhere at all.

God doesn't actually say that if you don't accept Him, that is the church putting words into His mouth in order to control the masses.
