I went to the dentist today for a root canal on my #11 tooth (two teeth past your left front tooth). I told my dentist that I felt an absess forming in my wisdom tooth on the same side. She looked, but didn't seem too concerned. She gave me a shot of novocaine for the #11 and I felt the drill. She gave me a second shot, but I still felt it. She gave me a third and STILL felt it. She said that she couldn't give me anymore and that I would have to reschedule. I asked why it wasn't working and she said that the infection from the wisdom tooth had spread and made it so the novocaine wouldn't take effect. Is that even possible? I've never had this happen before. There was one time that I needed two shots but this was 3 and I could still feel it like I had none! I'm on antibiotics to get rid of the infection, but I am PETRIFIED of going back. My question is can infection stop novocaine from working???
