Does it cost money to download <free>Blackberry apps? and is it free to go to the app catalog?
 
It only costs however much internet you use downloading them for the free ones. The catalogue is free.

No, free BB apps are just that. If it's a free trial and there is a charge later it will indicate as such on the app description, but you will not automatically be charged for anything. Also, all the app catalogs that I know of are also free as I've not heard of one yet that charges for access.
