Does it hurt to get a tattoo? lol?

I want one on my wrist, on my belly, and on my shoulder blade...I'm wondering if it hurts as bad as people say it does..Also, how long should you wait to go swimming, and what does it feel like when you're getting it done? Thanks =)
 
Wrist hurts, bad.
Belly depends on how much muscle there is.
Shoulder blade hurts.

Ask the artist about swimming, it's really up to them.
It kind of burn/tingles.
Depends where it is really.
And how you react to pain.

I got my first tattoo right above my right hip bone. its a fairly good sized tattoo. I went in there balls to the wall ready to be in the worst pain of my life. I was ready to cry and scream and kick and pass out.
.... yeah..... really, it was NOT that bad. I zoned in to a design on the ceiling, talked to my tattoo artist, and wiggled my toes a lot - and the only time I felt DISCOMFORT, not pain, was when my tattoo artist got close to my hipbone, and still then it just felt like a vibrating pressure. on a scale of one - ten it was a four or five... you should wait until the tattoo is healed to swim.
