Does losing an ip address on your laptop have to do with Dell or Verizon {fios}?

I lost my ip address back in january and i was wondering if it has to do anythign with verizon or dell??
I lost internet connection back in january... and everytime i turn on my laptop.. it says intertnet has limited or no connection.. and i gues it has something to do with the ip address on my laptop?
