DOES NOKIA 5310 WORK WITHOUT SIM? plz help!?

I know its a bit strange question but..........my mom doesn't want me to make calls but she is ok if i buy a fone without calling n e 1.I mean to use all its wonderful features without calling n e 1. Guyz...plz help me out by testing ur 5310 without a SIM CARD!...and reply if all the features work except for calling!
