I have "on call time of approximately 10 hours a week" in my contract at work. I have requested vacation time this coming week, and was wondering if my on call time overrides the vacation time I will be taking? Essentially, do I need to pick up my phone for work-related calls while I'm on vacation?
I'm looking for something I can cite that defines "on call" time with regards to vacation, or even a look at it from a legal perspective.

It's up to the company. If you get a work related call while on vacation, just ignore it and see what happens to you.

*EDIT* - Vacation is a BENEFIT, not a right. Your company will define what that benefit is, and if you still need to answer the phone for business related calls.

If you don't like their policy, you always have the option of quitting and finding a new job.
