Does playing Blu-Ray Discs on the Playstation 3 ruin the system?

I remember playing a lot of DVDs on my old PS2 ruined the laser or something and eventually ruined the system causing me to buy a new one. This has occurred with a few friends of mine also. I was curious if this was the case with the new PS3?

Yes, that is why they are making all those Blu-Ray movies and games. Just to ruin your PS3, you need to be careful not to play any games or use your 500 dollar system at all. Otherwise the discs that it is meant to use will ruin it.
