Does religion have anything to do with lifespan?

I've always heard that christians/theists tend to live longer than Atheists/agnostics/satanists/non-theists...

Is there any truth behind this? Why would this be true?

My grandfather was a Vegan that never drank, smoke, or did drugs a day in his life. he was an Atheist, and He just died last July at the age of 95.

My dad was a Jehovah's witness (he didn;t go out and recruit, though) and he drank a lot (not a druggie or alcoholic but he drank a lot) and he died in 2006 of pancreatic cancer at the age of 59

My great great uncle was a vegetarian (not quite vegan, though) and he drank a lot also. He died back in 2002, but he lived to 87. that's a pretty good life.

Lst example: My great uncle is currently 76. he is agnostic. He doesn;'t flat out deny God, but he never went to church a day in his life and doesn't like organized religion. Anyways, he is 76, and he hasn't died yet but his aging process has gone really well. He is a vegetarian and doesn;t drink all that much ANYMORE, and he has very few wrinkles, and most people that meet him think he's around age 64, although they're off by 14 years.

Anyways, one of few religious people in my family died in theuir 50s and all the nonbelievers are doing really well currently and have lived to be at least 85+.

How, exactly, does Atheism contribute to a shortned life span.
