3g just means 3rd generation of internet technology. 1st generation was through radio waves, 2nd was the edge network, and now the newest cell phone internet is the 3g network which is the fastest and allows for faster data downloads and surfing, etc. iphone 3g is available in 8 gigabyte and 16 gigabyte
