of your contract? Right now, I'm paying for a whole lot of minutes I don't use and I want to switch to Virgin Mobile. My contract is up in a few months and I've heard the termination fee decreases the closer you get to end of contract, but I'm not sure how true that is. Its too late to call Verizon so maybe someone here knows.

Yes, it goes down $10 a month. After about 16-18 months the termination fees stays at $50 till your contract ends

Yes it does- goes down by $5 each month if it's a regular phone, and goes down by $10 each month if it's an advanced device like a smartphone

Yes, the termination fee does decrease over time. So the longer you wait before breaking the contract, the less you will pay when you do it.

However, I don't know what the amounts involved are, and they may depend on your plan and your phone.

Your best bet would be to call Verizon and ask them, and then figure out whether it's smarter for you to just stay in your contract until it's done (my guess is that will be the best option, even when you factor in that Virgin is cheaper).
