Does the HTC Desire from Telus work in Japan?

Hello everyone!

I just bought the HTC Desire from Telus and looking into whether or not taking it to Pacific Mall to get it unlocked.
I'm also going to travel for a few weeks mostly in Japan and a short day or 2 in other Asian countries soon.
So what I'd like to find out is:

1) Will an unlocked Desire work in Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan if I purchase a new SIM card in each place I visit?
2) If I don't unlock the phone, does my phone still work in those places through Telus?

Hi,you can unlock your mobile by unlock codes and for codes you can either contact your provider or can get it from online..and once you unlock your mobile then you can use it in any country with that country's provider..its easy and if you don't want to unlock your mobile just inquire about the details to your provider that whether you can use your mobile where ever you travel and the plan charges for your calls..if you have idea of unlocking your mobile then you can go with onlinegsmunlock and get unlock codes to unlock your mobile..

You can get the Unlock code from service provider and UNLOCK the Phone from Network Lock....
