Does the iTouch 2nd Gen have the same OS as an iPhone 3GS?

Because my parents have their own iPhones and sometimes I always borrow one of those iPhones just to play some apps like Guitar Rock Tour and TapTap Metallica. They said that they'll just buy me an iTouch 2nd Gen so I'll not bug them anymore. Then i wondered if an iTouch 2nd Gen have the same OS as an iPhone 3GS.
