does the type of pan in a cake recipe really matter?

ok so i'm attempting to back a chocolate mousse cake and the recipe calls for a springform pan... heres the problem: i only have a regular cake pan and i dont have time to go out and buy a springform pan. so would the cake results be drastic if i use a regular cake pan???
