a friend of mine is trying to convince me that using a serrated knife when cutting lettuce is harmful to the plant and will result in a less nutritious salad then if I use a regular knife (not serrated).

is this true? is there any actual research that claims that the serrated knife will reduce the nutritional value of the plant? in my understanding, the knife causes a physical change in the lettuce, not a chemical one. the vitamins are not denatured or affected, right?

thanks in advance for your responses!
