...Perfect Dog DVD? I'm having some real trouble with a seven months old Labrador Retriever, who's really aggressive in his attempt to dominate my other two dogs (a small seven year old mongrel that we picked up from the street six years ago, and a nearly 11 years old female Labrador).

I don't want to get into mayor details because it would be pretty extensive, so instead I wanted to know what you guys think about Don Sullivan's Secrets to Training the Perfect Dog DVD for the purpose.

If not, which DVD or book or whatever could you recommend that explains how to train and discipline an aggressive dog (what's worse is that he's a labrador retriever... they're not usually aggressive)??

Thanks!

i would think that the seven months old pup is just trying to play.. yeah they can be somewhat rough. well, if he seems like he about to bully your other dogs, just recall him to you and do some drills.
i suggest feeding preference that would show the pup its position in the pack. (feed it last and ensure that it cannot eat other dogs' food.)

Actually from my assisting with training classes for the last five years and meeting several hundred Labradors in the process, I can absolutely tell you that I have met all but TWO Labradors that did not have aggression issues.

This is because all but those two dogs were from backyard breeders.

I am not familiar with Don Sullivan, but my guess is he is some infomercial "dog trainer". I doubt he has ever taken any dog to any obedience or performance title and his only skill is in marketing himself.

What I suggest is you go find a REAL dog trainer to assist you with your dog in real life.

Go to the AKC website and find an AKC Obedience club near you.
Remember your dog does not have to be AKC registered for you to work with someone in the club.

Find someone who has trained and titled many dogs to work with you.

There are no quick or magical fixes and there are no secrets, just tried and true methods.

Visit this website and see if by any chance you have the good fortune of having one of these approved trainers near you, for this would be the BEST way to train your dog.
