Don't people have regular Vets?

Why is it people come on here and ask health questions or else second guess what a vet has already told them? Don't they trust their vets? Don't they have a working relationship with their vet? I cant imagine taking my dogs to someone I don't know. Do you research your vet like you would your childs doctor? I have my vets home phone number. I also have an emgency vet in the event my vet isn't available. Don't you?
 
Yes, a lot of people do have a regular vet. In my case, based on a few things my vet said, I decided to switch because I wanted to make sure my dogs were getting the best care. I hada few recommendations for a vet in my area, and started taking them there. I do trust this vet, and think my dogs are getting the right care, but as with people going to the doctor, sometimes you just want a second opinion.
 
Yes I sure do! I think there is to may people who look at cheaper vet care so they bounce from one to another in order to have it cost effictive for them. But in the long run it doesn't help if you never stay with one vet because then they dont get to know you or your dog or dogs.

I've had my vet for over 20 years so I cant even Imagine going else where unless it was for specialized care my vet could not provide.
 
AMEN...I know excatly what you are talking about. I work at a veterinary hospital and people call all day asking questions such as these. My doctors spend hours on the phone, with no pay, to answer these questions. They are more than happy to offer advise, free of charge, instead of people asking backyard "vets" how to care for it themselves. They go to school for a reason. Do not take medical advise from yahoo answers unless the person answering is a certified, which you wouldn't know, vet. If your vet doesn't do that, find a new one.
 
I asked around about the two vets in town and after hearing good things about both, chose the one closest to me as I do not have a car. My vet's number is programed into my phone and they have a number to call in case of emergency on their answering machine. If my vet was unavailable I would call the other vet in town... Luckily I have had no serious problems so far- but I recently stopped in my vet's office to ask about how my dog's collar was fitting (because he is loosing some fur around his neck- apparently it is too loose).

I really like my vet's office- when my dog went in with his throat infection they called the week after to see if he was better. . .
 
its always good to share info so maybe they aren't second guessing their vets but simply finding out who else has been in the same boat at one time or another and what their outcome has been. Its scary when your pet gets ill cause it can't tell you how it feels.
 
The people who ask health questions about their pets on here instead of going to the vet are the same people who post questions like "where can I get a free puppy", forgetting that a free puppy isn't free and that they will be an ongoing expense for 10-15 years. The price you pay to purchase a dog, regardless of how much that is, is the least money you'll ever spend on it.

When I am elected president, people will be required to take an IQ test before they are allowed to drive a car, reproduce or get a pet.
 
kinda... i hav a regular vet for my cat, and in case the vet isn't there then we just take anyone who's been recommended to us. my cat is a pretty brave, you no how dogs lik to put there paws on ur thaigh., my cat does the same, and so she isn't afraid of the vet's needles a lot, just shivers a litte. but yea i do hav one. and for emergencies, we hav a pet hospital within 3 mintes of car, and 10 by bike.
